My granddaughter Sydney is the drum major, and the last person I saw in the tiger suit was her sister Madison. This painting is a present for their mom, Laura. The Analy Marching band and the weener dogs in costumes are my 2 favorite things about the Apple Blossom Fair parade in Sebastopol each year.

Russian River from Geyserville Bridge
This is the view from the Geyserville bridge. The new one, not the cool old one. We camped right about where the egret is on a vacation before we moved here. The riverbed has shifted many times since then (almost 40 years ago). The house in the background is Doris Brown's, the first Geyservillian we met.

Goodbye to Mewsings
This is one of the few abstracts I have done. I call it Mewsings. It just sold to a lady who really likes it a lot. I love when that happens. Sometimes I miss a painting after it sells, but it's always nice to know someone is enjoying it.

Painting with Judy
I'm having fun painting with my dear friend Judy. She hasn't painted before and she is amazing. We are painting things she likes, to start off with, like irises and ducks, and we did a frog, also (not because she's particularly fond of frogs, more because it seemed like it would be easier). I'm posting my iris and my frog just for fun.

Fred's Llama @ M-P
My friends Patti and Fred Fererra came to see an art show of mine and Fred liked my llamas. He asked me if I ever painted llamas hanging out at Machu Picchu. I hadn't, but it sounded like a really good idea. Patti takes beautiful photographs and has been very generous about letting me paint them. Long story short (too late), here is a Machu Picchu llama with a semi detailed background. Just above will be another M.P. llama, with a less detailed background.

Patti Fererra's Spotted Owl
I just finished this painting of a spotted owl from a great photograph by my friend Patti Fererra. With all those downy feathers, it looks like it might be a fledgling.

Harvey: Puppy Posh, Naptime, and Harvey's Haircut.
These three paintings are for my granddaughters. Harvey was a most loved member of their family. He had a big smile, a big heart and the biggest feet I've ever seen on a Springer Spaniel. He loved taking a nap on anything he found on the floor. We all miss him a lot.

Daisy and the Purple Ape
Daisy, our Springer Spaniel, is my favorite dog and the Ape is her favorite friend. She loves all of her many many toys, but this guy has been her nap buddy since she was a puppy. Notice his cute white hat (her big floppy lip).

Puma in the Mustard
While painting mustard fields recently with the Monday Morning Painters, I thought "what I really need for my painting is a critter". This puma wasn't really there while I was, but there were some really big clear mountain lion tracks in mud on the road right near where we were painting.
So now my painting has a critter.

Healdsburg Hilltop Llamas, Zorba and Cancun
Several years ago, I first noticed these beautiful llamas grazing on a hilltop above Hwy 101 next to the Bella Villa Messina, in Healdsburg, CA. I have wanted to paint them for a long time now. I recently got the opportunity to meet them in person. Their names are Zorba and Cancun. This painting is in the current show at the Healdsburg Center for the Arts (formerly the Plaza Arts Center).

Booneville Sheep
On Highway 128 West of Booneville, I noticed a flock of really cute sheep, so I stopped to take pictures. They were really curious and talked a lot. I was especially happy to see this great back-lit little group of them.

Barbara's Yellow Schoolhouse
I finally finished painting this charming place that used to be a schoolhouse, and is now the home of a friend. I started it a couple of years ago, and for some reason, set it aside. I drove by there this summer and all of her flowers inspired me to finish it up.

OVO
I painted this using hard boiled eggs to roll the paint on the paper, then I had some fun with a pencil eraser. One objective of this exercise was to incorporate a word into the painting, and ovo seemed to suit.
